Sure wish I could be there. I'd bring in some fresh shrimp and make low country boil for y'all. That is one great thing about living on the coast. There is always fresh seafood.
Can't make it to the BBQ - I will be in town the week before but will head back to Texas on the 2nd of June.
I've heard from several of you that you WON'T be able to come to the BBQ but where are the "I'll be there with bells on!" responses?
i'll be there with bells on. as long as helen is going to be there.
Yes Steve, I will be there to collect all the bells. I think I've figured out how to fit the BBQ in with all the other family things going on that weekend...although we can only stay for about an hour or so.
Helen,
Please pass Steve the salt so he can commence eating his words.
okay, so i'm a big fat liar. in fact, in the last twelve hours, i've gained ten pounds. i've had to eat my words. i will not be at the barbecue. to be there, i'd have to do a third urbana-bethalto round-trip drive in seven days. and i'd have to miss my oldest daughter's first volleyball practice and stiff my wife with all four kids when we're supposed to be moving into a new house. so i won't be there at john's byootiful place. instead i'll be here picking the words out of my teeth. up here. under a pile of boxes.
New house huh Steve? Way to go. New house, bigger tax bill, the county can offer more services to more people with the incremental taxes you will be paying. DOubt I can make the trip, as my daughter graduates the weekend after this, so I will be getting things ready for all of the family coming out to celbrate the family's youngest grand kid's graduation from High School.
We pay more taxes in Urbana, I believe, than any other town in the county and maybe in central Illinois. But I'm cool with that because I love Urbana (known by locals as the City of Trees or the City of Communists or both). A college town without the commerce and noise of Champaign. I'm also cool with it because money doesn't mean that much to me. Let folks have some of ours. Call it service.
Bill, congrats on the graduation--my other kids will probably have to come get me from the rest home by the time my youngest graduates. Steve, you can relate to that--you're the only person I know who has a kid younger than I do. Of course, you didn't do the carrying, laboring, etc so I'm sure you didn't age as much. YOU will do the aging when your girls start dating!
I'm gona try to come to the party. Who else will be there???
I forgot to ask, Steve--where's the new house? Still in Urbana, I'm sure, but where? Good luck with the move.
3210 Baronry. Deerfield Trails subdivision, near Myra Ridge. East on Windsor. Right on Philo. Half mile or so, just before Urbana ends, the entrance to Deerfield Trails is on the left. Second street in is Baronry. Turn right, last house on the left. We close next Friday morning. Come by Saturday with cold bottles of water or beer. You can sit on the porch and laugh at my jokes and/or distress.
Deb - We're looking forward to seeing you at the BBQ on June 9!
Anyone else?
