Some of the Meadowbrook gals used to go to Debbie Hester Foster's house every night that Elvis was on TV so we could all watch it and swoon together. It was a real tradition.
I remember watching TV with my son when he was 2 when the tv station broke the news of Elvis' death. I just sat in the middle of the livingroom floor and held my son while I cried.
Once a group of us went to see Elvis IN PERSON at Kiel Auditorium - I think we were about 15-16 yrs old. I remember Cheryl Davis and Debbie Hester from our class (and older/younger relatives, too). Cheryl - was Sheila there, too? Anyway, I know it's weird but I still have my ticket stub from that concert. Maybe it'll finance my retirement one day!
Sharon Richards (Gary's younger sister) was soooo nuts about Elvis - that's her and John Nolte's wedding anniversary!
I am SOOO jealous of you that went to an Elvis concert! Hang on to that ticket stub, Linda Lou. I still have my ticket from a Sonny & Cher concert in 1973, but that don't hold a candle to an Elvis stub.
No, Sheila wasn't there, just You, Deb, Sharon Richards and I. Oh yea and Deb's Mom and Dad too. They sat way in the back but our seats were right up front. After the concert Deb ran up and got a plastic cup that he drank out of and kept it for years. I heard that someone sold one of his scarves for a bzillion bucks because of his DNA. Hope Deb still has that cup cause I figure all four of us should split that money. HA HA
Donna Aljeys took her Dad, Bob, to an Elvis concert in St. Louis too. Said it was the best concert she'd seen at the time. I'm like Gwen, would have LOVED to see him in concert. And didn't every girl have a crush (BIG one!) on him at some point in our lives??
