Steve Q you are a crazy, job security for me. Helen now you remember, atist's dont use any mind altering substances, not that I thought they did in the first place, but are very sensitive to outside influences.I got that a long time ago.My daughter is an artist and VERY sensitive to any perceived form of criticism.
Debbi, Being an artist myself I must be an exception to the rule. Infact, I'm more UNcomfortable with flattery than with criticism. At least I know that critics are sincere..some times that is not the case with flattery.
Helen I believe you are the secure kind of artist that only comes after years of not hiding who you are. My daughter will eventually figure that out and merge her personality with her gift and realize that she is not a fraud after all. Deep down she feels she has somehow cheated, even when that is sooo far from the truth.
I totally understand the place where your daughter is at. She will start doing her best work when she creates what pleases herself. If someone else likes it then that is a bonus but that shouldn't be the reward. The reward is in her own satisfaction.
How insightful you are(hope I spelled that right)and so glad to see you up so late.If you are interested, some of her marketing designs are shown on her website terribethmitchell.com But it doesnt really showcase alot of her free style work, she draws and paints and so many other mediums, some of it I dont get, you probably will, one artist to another.
I am up late because my own daughter who is an art major is up working on a project due tomorrow. Granny here has been trying to get the baby to sleep so her mama can work. She is finally out so I can go to bed shortly. I can see that Terri is a very smart artist as her work requires a lot of thought to come up with what she's done. I could never do anything that intellectual. I bet she would be really fantastic at altered art pieces. I have a friend, Linda Woods, that along with her sister has written two books on altered art. They were on The View and did a segment with Rosie. I've tried doing some but it just takes too much thinking and I end up frustrated.. Terri might be interested seeing their site. http://www.visualchronicles.com/

And the only drug I use while working is coffee...the jittery hand produces interesting lines.
I have sincerely always been sincere with my compliments to you, Helen. :-)
I know you are Gwen, you show it with dollars. The absolute most sincere form of flattery! LOL

could have sworn the cigar answer would have been "when it is Bill Clinton's cigar", I guess sometimes the obvious answer is not the obvious answer.
dear obvious/not obvious,
there is always more than one answer.
love,
