Come On Baby - Light My Fire!

Isn't this some spectacular weather we're going to have for our Second Annual Class of 1972 Bonfire?! That's tomorrow night, Friday, October 12th, at 6pm or whenever you can get there. Rich Hendrix will be in from parts North as well as several others who couldn't make it to our 35th Reunion.

It's at John Walker's house just North of Bethalto on Wood Road. If you need more specific directions, send me an email at linda_goldsmith@hotmail.com or call me or comment on this blog.

Be sure to dress in layers, bring a lawn chair and your cooler AND don't forget your food contribution!

Hope to see everyone there.

My public apologies for not being there for the 2nd Annual John Walker Bonfire. I'll be here in Urbana yelling at my kids to clean the house so they can mess it up again.

This is gonna be a long one here folks. First, I want to add my sincere thanks to everybody for the AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL and FUN reunion!! I really can't remember having as much fun. It was so great to see so many people that I haven't seen in years. I'm just sorry that I didn't get to talk to so many of you as much as I would have liked.
I apologize for taking so long to say that, but please know that it's the truth. We've had some high drama at my house: my girls & I moved out a week or so after the reunion and the turmoil & emotions of doing that as well as trying to set up a new household with NO idea where much of my stuff was, left me pretty drained at the end of the day.

I missed out on all the discussions here right after the weekend. I read all the postings but just didn't have the frame of mind to write anything. To those of you who wrote to me afterward--Lois, Debbi, Rhonda, especially, & Claudia, I owe you too--thanks for writing and I PROMISE, I'll write back soon.

Are there any other places to see any more photos of the reunion? I have some pictures that I'll send to you, Linda; again, when I can find them! By the way, that high-tech camera (I hear you laughing, Lois) that was turned in was mine. If you want to send it to me, I'll get them developed and then send them to Linda too.

I sure do wish I could make it down there this weekend but take pics and have a great time!! I'll be here in C-U being envious of all of you. Steve, when your kids get your house clean, send them my way. Hey--you & Lynn owe me a six-pack now!!

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for making it so great for all of us.

...And Bill, you're on my s#%@ list, Mister! Just kidding. Hope retirement's all you wanted it to be. How's the laundry coming??

Deb,
Did you see the photo's Helen has on her profile? Check it out. I wish I could be there for the bonfire. Someone needs to take lots more photos. Rich, I'm jealous that you get to make the trip and I don't. Just be sure to have lots of fun and I won't hold it against you.
Great bonfire weather here too. Yesterday it was in the 90's but today it was only about 70. Tonight it's going to drop into the 40s. Burr! I'm looking forward to the cooler weather.
Have fun everybody!

I will do my best, Carla. I just got lucky that it worked out for me to be in town, this time.
See you all tomorrow.

Just wanted to say the bonfire was fun. Wish more people would get to come, but the crowd we had was alot of fun. Tim G. was so funny. Billy Patton hasn't changed any, he must doing something right. Too bad Gordon wrecked the van.

Glad to hear the bonfire went well, except for the van...Gordon. Don't know what happened since I wasn't there but I had to pick up on the comment from Sara. We girls have to stick together right? Hope to hear from others who were there and see some pics. Be good everybody.

I had a good time at the bonfire seeing everybody again and some that I haven't seen for a very long time.
Thanks to John for giving us a place to met and Linda for pulling it all together.
It wasn't a very big crowd but still a lot of fun.
I just can't believe you let Gordon drive after I left! BIG MISTAKE!

Debbie, I deserve to be on your shit list, but I have an excuse too. retirement makes you forget stuff, cause you are trying to forget everything you have been doing for the last 32 years! does that make since? Ok not! but I do recall why I am on your list, my priorities have been a little messed up and I have not been on here at all either. Sorry to hear about your situation. (Should I be sorry?) or is it what you had to do?

I am going to go check my e-mail like I said, althougth I think where I sent the reply from is at my Danville house, and I am in Arizona for the next 8 days, Spain for a week and won't be back to my Ca computer until Halloween. I will apoligize now cause I will drink too much wine sitting in the drive way handing out candy, and won't remember to get out of trouble with you then either. But I am going to prove, that I did what I told you I did.

Debbie, Feel free to email me. The best way is still Bill.robinson@pepsi.com, second is Az email at wrobinson2@cox.net.
So Debbie, anything you want to know in the mean time, (until I can get to the computer with the archive) so I can prove my honesty, e-mail me. I may not be good at remembering, I am really good at e-mail!

Retirement is great. Susie doesn't want me to work again, I don't know if I am capable of that. Right now, I am trying to play as much golf as I can (100 rounds this year is my goal, but I doubt I get there, 64 right now!

Also, Stan Z. Where are you? I am waiting for Stan Z. And the other 2 fourths of the foresome to send me the dates they want to come to the Az desert or Nor Cal and play golf this winter! (spouses welcome if they want to come,) house has four bedrooms. Rooms are free, green free (they aren't cheap but courses are great) and a few bottles of wine ( I hope they aren't cheap either!)are the only additional expense besides airfare, and southwest flies ding fares to Oakland and Phoenix under $200 round trip quite often from STL! The invitaion is wide open still! (So it still could be a reasonable long weekend or mini vacation while it is cold and un=golfable in the midwest)

The reunion was a blast. The beer tent, the reunion and the Ihop experience after, made me know that all of the songs and folk lore about "not being able to go home again," is false. It felt like home, and made me wish, that I had not seperated myself for so long by so many miles.

Debbie, My blog here, now that is a long blog comment so no need for you to apologize for yours!

I promise to get out of trouble with anyone who has a claim against me... and there are many!, as I did not get to talk to near as many people at the reunion as I would have liked! I have no excuses now, because nothing is more important nor can make itself more important than my family and friends... I may have been "work" guilty prior to now, but am willing to work my way out of it now!

I hope the Bon Fire was fun.

Glad to hear the bon fire went so well and so sorry I had to miss it. I'm with everyone else what did you do Gordon, Sara e-mail me and let me know. My kids had their bon fire last night and I actually made it to 9:30 boy its hell to get old. Bill I envy you won't ever get to retire here but sometimes don't think its all its cracked up to be. Debbie I hope everything works out for you and your girls and hope to see all of you soon.

I DID have a lot of fun, Carla and Donna, I made sure to eat a few marshmallows for you, too.

Thanks, again, everyone. I had a blast.
