Summer Vacations or What Have You Been Up To This Summer?

Remember when we were in grade school and had to write those "What I Did This Summer" essays? Well, get your typing fingers ready 'cause that's your assignment now!
What have you ALREADY done this summer? What are you PLANNING to do later this summer? Tim Golden and wife just returned from Puerto Vallerta. Stan Medley and wife are experiencing Africa sometime this summer. I just returned from a quick trip to Wisconsin and I'm looking forward to visiting with my son in Rhode Island soon.
Or, are you planning something closer to home which is totally understandable considering the price of gas nowadays!
Just let us know what you're up to whether it's reading a new book or filling sandbags for all the flooding that's surrounding us.
Please DO NOT tell us any specific dates. This is a public blog, after all. Be safe and secure in all you do.

I went to Paris for 7 days and then to the south of France for 3.
It was an incredible trip. I had been there with my daughter twice before this trip but this time it was different.
I love the cafe's, the atmosphere of the city, the beauty.
While chatting with a friend we realized we were standing in the exact spot where Marie Antoninette
was beheaded.
There is so much history there, so much to see, so much beauty.
My next trip will be to India again in the late fall.
All the best,
Denise Amata
We have booked an Alaska cruise and are looking forward to that. My hubby did a guy trip backpacking in the Grand Canyon. I prefer nicer amenities, so my tour was through his camera lens. We always take a few day trips to the Maryland beaches, put down the top on the SLK and breathe in that clean salt air.
Anna,
Got room for a stowaway? I'd like to take an Alaskan cruise someday. Been on the tropical cruises and these days I prefer cooler places.
Can't afford many trips this year, we are trying to conserve just to help our kids from going under, so Paris will have to wait. Joe got me a little 200 Yamaha for my birthday which gets about 94 mpg so I will just enjoy the ride through Moro and B-town and hope that the economy is better for all next year.
In addition, can I live vicariously through my Mom? She went to Venezuela with her boyfriend and is still there. Not that I am jealous of the trip because I think there are other places I would rather visit than the home-place of Chavez.

Denise, I only spent a couple of days in Paris but would love to do a longer trip and especially to the south of France..if there is a next time.
Anna, My sister hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon for her 50th birthday. Everyone on that hike was about that age. She was glad she did it but didn't think she would ever do it again.
I'm not going anywhere as I have a big wedding to pay for. Besides, everyone came to me this year. I've had a house full of activity for the last two weeks.
Hey Helen,
I think you deserve a vacation afer all that activity. Even if you can't afford to go anywhere, you need some time to take it easy and pamper yourself. You deserve it!

Well, let's see...I was in Missouri, at my folks for a few days last month. Got to see 2 of my sisters. That was a solo trip. Then last week, we both had the week off for the 4th and spent it at the lake. Very busy, the kids and their kids were there, too. But lots of fun and lots of memories. This week it was back to work, but we had the house to ourselves. Jenny's sister, Kathy, that lives with us, spent the week at the lake and took both the hounds with her. We have a couple long weekends planned for August and then....fall Birthdays for the the grandboys. Just seems like we are always busy.
I guess that's a good thing, helps to keep me from thinkin' about all the crappy stuff that life throws at us.
One thing I have learned...you don't have to go far, but you DO need to get away for some ME time, every so often. I call it STRESS MANAGMENT, but whatever you call it, your body and mind need to relax and re-charge. It's good to get away from the house, work and the phones.
I am envious, Debbi!
I never learned to ride when I was young. So, I got this bright idea, last summer and passed the written for my permit for a bike. Well, "It ain't like I thought it would be". I have been on my cousin's 125 Scooter a couple times lately. I tense up like a toddler takin' their first steps. I only live 6mi from work, so a scooter or bike would be perfect. Yes, I know, a bicycle would work, too, but I don't want to go to work most days as it is. That would make it even LESS appealing.LOL
I know what you mean Rich, some days I'm just toooo lazy to pack my back pack and put on my helmet.I am rally a dirt rider and enjoy that much more than the street. I don't trust other drivers, they tail gate and I just want to kick their asses, so its not so relaxing as nerve racking, but the gas is good.
Boat Float!!
Talk,
How was your boat float this year? Or, is it still in the future? I'm so jealous of your boat float even though I'd rather be in an inner tube and actually IN the water!
Happy Birthday July 24th!
Thanx, Muddybrook......boat float was weekend b4 last...right after the 4th....capt Tim said it had to be in the top 3 floats we've done in the 30 years we been floatin' the Yellowstone....the upper part of the river was closed due to high water and a bridge starting to wash out to one of the islands at Livingston.....so most of us put in at Springdale on Fri....was kinda cool a pretty windy....but Sat & Sun were terrific!...almost always get rained on at least once but not this year......a fast ride.....especially after the slow one last year....Bill came from Sacramento(he shows up every once in a while to float w/ us..) We did see some folks in inner tubes too, but I'd have to say that wasn't the preferred method of transportation down the river..;-) & the crew really liked my tunes in the drift boat.......jammin' to Ted Nugent or Blind Faith while floatin' is pretty damn fine when you've had enough of listenin' to the wind & the water.....;-D Clark DAy is this weekend http://www.pompeyspillar.org/news.html not sure how much I'm gonna do...I'm so far behind in my paperwork it's scary......
