Some "new" old faces...

...One of them has a January birthday. How many can you name?
Thanks to everyone for coming up with the correct names as follows:
Donna Aljets, Debbie Mayes, Alan Helmkamp,
Bill Robinson, Jamie Hashimie
Donna Piltz, Stan Medley, Brent Augustson, Travis Lewis
Becky Sterling, Kathi Kruckeberg, Vickie Hawkins
Happy Birthday, Donna!

I think I can identify all but three. Donna Aljets, Allan Helmkamp, Bill Robinson, Donna Piltz, Stan Medley, Brent Augustson, Travis Lewis, Kathi Kruckeberg and Vickie Hawkins.
Starting with the first row: Becky Sterling, Kathy Kruckaburg, Vicki Hawkins. Middle row: Donna Piltz, Stan Medley, ?, ? Back row: Donna Aljets, Debbie Mayes, Alan Helencamp, Bill Robinson, ?.
Not sure on the spelling of the names.
Thanks Tim. I knew Brent looked familiar but I couldn't put his name with the face. I think we did pretty well, even though I messed up on the spelling of some names. Ha!
The boy next to Bill favors my very first boyfriend, Ricky Taylor. But I'm not sure. If it is, I had my very first date in 5th or 6th grade...we had a field trip to the planetarium and we sat together on the school bus and held hands!! Does anybody else remember that field trip?
yes, I remember that trip.
I remember bein' at the planetarium(damn cool place, by the way).....probably more than once over the years....but I think I was a little older...welllllll...maybe a lot older.... b4 there were any dates for me.......;-) but all those faces look familiar......anyone remember Travis Lewis & the Blue Jays concert in the old Bethalto gym?
I recall that trip. And I recall most of these faces. I also know someone in the group with a January Birthday. No prize needed!
Dennis I also remember the concert... wow I feel old.
Could the guy next to me be Paul Ivanuck?
the young man on my left strikes a resemblance to Frank Anthony too.
Yup!!....old we be......nuthin' to fret over tho.....not a thing we can do about it....'cept learn to make it work for us......;-)
Not sure if that's Brent next to Stan Medley......Randy Crotchett is the first name that comes to mind.......
Dang you guys & yer grade school pix.....;-).....puts the feeble brain cells I have left into overdrive memory mode.....remember Mr Velligan(sp?)....I think his first name was Frank...& it seems he traveled around to all the grade schools in good old dist 8 doin' music classes so maybe someone other than Bethalto students will remember him...not sure what made me think of him....but I tried out more than one interment....he tried to teach....but my brother Sam is the musician in our family....;-)...he actually made a livin' at it for a while...& of course we all know the guys in the band get all the girls.......lol
definitely Stan, Brent, Allan, Travis and Me for 5 of the 6 guys, the girls are Donna A, Debbie Mayes, Donna Piltz. Kathi K. Becky Sterling (Great call on that one Carla!)Vickie Hawkins. Just not sure about the sixth boy. I couldn't find a picture of Ricky Taylor in the 7th grade yearbook (yes I still have one) but I get a different picture in my mind when I think of Ricky Taylor! I am stumped...
Not to fret Bill. Ricky Taylor was in my sixth grade class and I have a pic. Sheri, I also have a few pics from the field trip to the planetarium. I remember one pic of Donna Fairless and Rhonda Tiek on the bus. That was such a cool field trip. Darn but I have got to find that box of pics and scan them this weekend.
Great Job with putting the names with the faces!
The show we saw at the Planetarium was Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity. During The Blue Jays concert in the gym, do you remember the "go-go dancers?" I know that Rhonda & I were two of them and I remember Mom saying that it was the topic of conversation at the next PTA meeting. Anyone remember a party at Travis's house maybe around 67-68...Righteous Brothers playing on the record player? There was some "hand holding" going on that evening, too. Darn it that I didn't put names on the back of my pictures. The name of the guy in the pic next to Bill just won't come to me (Logan mean anything?) but I don't believe that it is Rick Taylor..for sure, it's not Frank Anthony, but funny you should mention Frank...He plays guitar in a band now, too. I understand that "Desert Wind" plays locally at places like Cottage Hills VFW. Donna Owens brother, Kevin, is the drummer. Donna Kizer's cousin-in-law, Roger McDonald, sings with them sometimes. They used to be the house band at The Palace in Meadowbrook, which I don't believe is open any longer.
I agree w/ it not bein Rick Taylor.... I have our basketball pix from 6th grade....which Rick is in & it's not even close....I'm thinkin' I already scanned it & sent it to either Linda or Ken..... but I can't put a name to him....it's not Dan Wathern, is it?....been a lonnngg time....
just looked thru our 7th grade yearbook......I bet it is Dan Wathern.......about 5th grade I bet....
I've got a little league picture from 1965 that has Rickey Taylor in it and the guy next to Bill in this picture doesn't look anything like him. I'll see how well it scans and I'll send it to Linda.
Hi all,
I couldn't resist jumping in on this one. The think the guy we're all having trouble identifying is Jamie Hashimie. Don't ask me how in the world I remember that one, but the name just come flying out of the sky.
It's been great reading all the comments on the pics........looking forward to the reunion this summer!
You girls got minds like a steel trap.......can't believe Gwen remembered that about the planetarium trip...didja keep notes?.....;-).....I kinda sorta remember the go go dancers..........hadn't heard Jamie's name forever.....yer probably right, Donna
Donna Piltz Naylor: We are in your debt for coming up with Jamie's name! Any clue what happened to him? Who knows why I was thinking "Logan"...must be another of my Burrito Supreme dreams. Great to hear from you on the blog!
Hi Donna!
Hey Talk...I remember that roving music teacher. you're kinda close on the name, okay, probably the first letter. But does anyone remember him bringing around the flutaphones? Then one day in sixth grade (at Cottage Hills grade school, Mrs. Whaley's room)..he looked at our hands and told us which string instruments we were best suited for. Mine was the CELLO...
a cool instrument now, but not back then. Needless to say, I stuck with the flutaphone!
I remember em.....seems the were mostly white w/ reddish parts on em?...
wow jamie hashimie where did you pull that one from? That is who it is, it comes back now... Remind me not to play trival pursuit with Donna wow!
I remember the roving music teacher, Mr. Velligan, coming to Meadowbrook. He told me that my hands were best suited for the piano but 2nd best was the cello. Isn't that the one you have to spread your legs to hold???? Well... no, I'm definitely NOT going to go there!
Apparently, Mr. Velligan CAN be wrong. Great hands or not - according to my piano teacher you also have to have rthythm. She dropped me like a hot potato!
I remember an instrument like a flute that was called a "recorder". Am I dreaming?
Hey Linda,
I think the instrument you are thinking of is the flutaphone. I loved that silly thing. Mr. Velligan said I was best suited for violin but I played the flute. I always loved music and still have a flute. Trouble is, I seem to have forgotten everything I learned about reading music.
Who in the world is Jamie Hashimie? How long was he with us? Donna Piltz, you are good!!!
Seems to me WE called em flutaphones....however we spelled it.....but I remember my brother's kids, I think, had the same thing in school & they were callin' em recorders.....but I think they were the same thing
no matter what they're called, it took zero talent to play them, so I was really good!!
