A Short Update on Rhonda (Backs) Poehler

Here's a short blurb to update you all on Rhonda Backs Poehler - she didn't have any pictures for us though. This is a new address. And, now we'll hear from Rhonda -

Rhonda Backs Poehler
340 Ver Bunker Ave.
Port Edwards, WI 54469

I lived in the Alton area until 1981 when my son Garett was born. I moved to Silver Lake, WI and helped my Dad operate a small grocery store. I moved to Kenosha, WI in 1987 and had a baby girl, Anna, in 1988. No reason to talk about my failed marriages.

I met Dennis in 1992 and we married in 1994. He is a SFC in the WI Army National Guard. He served in Kuwait 2005-2006. My son Garett is in the Air Force and served in Iraq the first year of the war. He is training for Flight Engineer in San Antonio. He is married and has a 2 year old-Alexis. I love being Granma. My Anna is living in Chicago and planning on attending college back in Wisconsin next year. My Mother lives in Worden and I visit her at least 3 times during the year. My husband’s entire family lives here in Wisconsin.

I’ve had a variety of jobs-Hairdresser, store manager, waitress, tourism assistant, motel front desk, and recently bank teller. Being a military wife has been rewarding, but having a full time career outside the home just never seems to work out. We have moved a few times and with my husband leaving I’ve had to maintain kids and home, the tough job!

Dennis will retire from military in next couple of years. We are planning our last move now and new careers.

I have been blessed with health, a great husband and children. My faith has gotten me through some very difficult times.

I’m not sure if I will be attending the reunion in Sept. My life revolves around the military schedule. Dennis always says one thing I do best is make any house we live in a home.

So, pray for our troops and don’t listen too closely to the media-they don’t know everything.

*********
It was great to hear from you Rhonda! Thanks for the update. Please keep in touch. I sure hope everything works out so you can make it back for the reunion!

Rhonda it was good to hear about you and tell your Husband and son both, thanks from all of us. Thanks for your advice regarding the media too. I learned a long time ago not to listen to the media for anything more than another point of view, and most often that point of view is always tilted towards which ever side could get them better ratings/Dollars.

Hopefully you will be able to get to the reunion, it would be great to see you.

Rhonda,
Yes, please tell you husband and son thank you for their military service. As Americans I feel it is our duty to support our troops. Whether one agrees with the involvement of the U.S. in Iraq or anywhere else for that matter, we owe our military troops a debt of gratitude for the job they do.

I also agree with Bill on the media spin on the news and I don't believe everything I see on TV or read in the newspapers. Many Americans are sheep and follow the herd. Others view life with blinders on, only seeing what is being put before them as truth. OK,
enough of that.

It is good to hear about your life and it sounds like you keep very busy. Hope to see you at the reunion.
Carla

Bless you darlin, for holding down the fort. Our last pastorate was in Fayetteville NC (Home of the 82nd Airborne) where our congregation was mostly military families. We served there for 10 years and it never ceased to amaze me the commitment and loyalty of our soldiers. We take too much for granted; there's a cost for freedom. Their commitment to the cause should be praised. We wholeheartedly thank families such as yours for the sacrifices made daily and sometimes years at a time to hold the family unit together. What a task and we commend you! You're so right...we continue to have contact with our guys (some over in the sand)that repeatedly state the media is not projecting the true picture. Their stories reflect a peace, comfort, and thankfulness from the people. We'll never hear such positive clips from the media. Hope the schedule permits a reunion weekend getaway...would love to see you.
Stay strong!!

Rhonda. what an iteresting life you've led. I agree with you about the job of staying home being the hard one. I've often said that being a stay-at-home Mom would be the toughest job imagineable but to do it on your own would be even tougher. Sounds like you've been a great success at it.
Also, Carla's right. Whether we agree with the situation, it still takes a special person to be in the military, and a tremendous debt is owed by all of us to all of them. Thanks!
