Our hair had to have so many pony tails, we had to wear a lampshade on our head and a sign on our back announcing that "I'm a lowly G.A.A. pledge." Anyone remember any of the other requirements for G.A.A. initiation?
I remember the pony tails and didn't we have to wear mismatched clothes? What I remember most about the initiation is being blindfolded and having to try to feed each other babyfood. I ended up with babyfood peas in my hair and almost puked.
Oh, my God. Too funny. Youlook like you're having SO much fun. I'm like Carla: I remember having to wear clothes that clashed. I also remember the lampshade and sign but I thought we all had to do different things. I think my "rite of passage" into the club was passing an orange from under my chin to someone else's, I can't remember who's neck it was, though. I can still see a picture of Rhonda in one of the yearbooks. She was sitting with her legs around one of those things in the gym that held up the VB nets and had a tire as the base. She was dresses in this ridiculous stuff and STILL managed to look cute. Miss Ims laughed like a maniac at us too. Did she stay at CM umtil she retired?
I remember having to bow to the "superiors" if you passed them! My sister was loving it since she was one of them;also, Jill McCool, Connie Combs,Rhonda Sheppard and Brenda Clayton!!! Those are the ones that really stood out in my memory!! What little there is left of it!!!
I went through all of this and then ended up getting "the boot". Takes real talent to get kicked out of G.A.A. Rene, thanks for reminding me who some of the superiors were. As I recall some of them were really "into" it!
Wait a second, you ladies are saying you wore those clothes that clashed because someone made you? Heck I thought you just dressed that way because it was the style????
I'd forgotten about having to bow. And sweet Connie Combs was REALLY into that among all the other stuff we had to do. who would have figured that she had sucha dark side? Lois, Rene & Linda, thank you on behalf of all lowly GAA pledges for defending our homr from these two clueless males. I particularly like "watch it Hoss"--kinda edgy...
My eyes are not so good these days...I had to reread Linda's comment about "tee-pee something." Then I remembered that Rene is a tee-pee artist. I've seen her work. ;-)
Ok. Next time I am going to do some, uh, uh........undercover work, I will need one of you tighter lipped girls to help me instead of the person who went with me. Yea, you know who you are Loose Lips Linda!!!!! Any volunteers?
