I remember almost all of these kids. wonderful bunch. Frankie just read my kindergarten report card to me the other day and Mrs. Bartels said I didn't like to take naps. Imagine that.
What cuties. Rana was a doll wasn't she? Lo, my report card comments usually said I was shy and needed to participate more in class. Imagine that! You wouldn't know I was the same person now.
i sent donna crawford an email so she knows her pic is on the blog. i recognized only half of the kids and was surprised to see stan williamson there since he ended up at bethalto.
Stan lived about 3 blocks from me on Oak St. Not sure when he moved, but during grade school I think. I remember going over there and getting boosted up onto a huge horse. Guess there weren't any ordinances about animals like that back in the day. Steve Shaw's family had a horse too, named Shorty. ( a name I'm all too familiar with)
How about Robin S ? I thought he was a Bethalto kid.
Where I grew up in Meadowbrook was in an actual subdivision but our neighbors had an outhouse they blew over in our yard during a tornado one year. They also had a donkey named Samson who woke me up every morning doing his hee-haw thing!
It's a real wonder that I'm as well-adjusted as I am...
I dont remember Robin or Stan when I started in unit#8 at Cottage Hills in the 3rd grade. But Robin broke up with me in the 7th grade because I never went "downtown" to the pool and stuff. That was a long walk from S. Williams to the pool and we had to walk the tracks, where the expressway is now.Doesnt Harold look cute in his cowboy shirt?
I didn't come to Cottage Hills 'till February of my 2nd grade year. I was really surprised at how many faces I recognized in this photo. Lots of memories generated from seeing this photo. Rich
