This was a First Grade Assignment
A 1st grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.
It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are first-graders, 6-year-olds, because the last one is a classic!

Too cute! I can just picture a bunch of 1st graders saying these things too. Some adults too. Ha!
This must have been done recently. Look again at some of these answers. We would have NEVER come up with some of them when WE were in 1st grade.
I have to admit we were pretty clueless at that age compared to the 1st graders of today. We were very sheltered and weren't exposed to what kids are exposed to now. Do you think we were better off?
I KNOW I was better off back then than the first graders are now!
I'm very thankful that I had a two-parent household (just normally dysfuntional) who believed in spanking us when we misbehaved and ACTUALLY spent time with us kids.
While my mother did work at times, it was always a "from home" job. Like she used to write for some little newspaper out of Wood River for awhile but she was ALWAYS home when I came home from school. I never had a key to my childhood home until I became an adult.
We had one TV (and, eventually it was a color TV) that got Channel 2 4, 5, 11 and, eventually, 30. We had certain shows we watched and the rest of the time we played outside or read books or CLEANED OUR OWN ROOMS and did chores.
Typically, money was tight. I always told my sister (who is 11 years younger) that she was spoiled because Mom & Dad always bought her THINGS. She told me that while she might have THINGS - my brother, Mike, and I had Mom and Dad's youth where they were much more active with us outdoors. It shut me up for awhile - but, if you know me at all - it didn't last long!
I remember watching the Art Linkletter show with the segment on kids saying the darndest things. That is what I thought of when I read these.
