MARCH ROLL CALL
St. Patrick’s Day occurs in March and I was wondering how the phrase “The luck of the Irish” came about. It seems a little ironic considering their history has been full of unfortunate events.
The first week in February was pretty lucky for various members of my family. My daughter’s boyfriend won nearly $500 on a 50/50 drawing at Trivia Night. My sister and her family were here from Tucson; they headed for the boat, along with my brother, raked in a near total of $8,000. I didn’t go with them and wouldn’t of won anyway…I’m just not that lucky as far as winning cash. I won an elephant shaped wicker table and various contests here and there but no big money makers. My husband did win a car several years ago. We sold it and used the money for a family vacation. My sister also won a trip to Vegas by winning a costume contest...wearing a costume that I made!
